Notice of 2017 Annual General Meeting

SSU’s 2017 Annual General Meeting of members will be held on Thursday, 25th of May 2017 at 12:30pm at UN Level 3 (Hammer & Swine). All SSU members are invited to attend. Food will be provided. Following the formal meeting, a workshop will be held on SSU’s 2017 – 2020 Strategic Plan.

    1. The income and expenditure of the Union during the 2016 calendar year
    2. The assets and liabilities of the Union at the end of the 2016 calendar year

May by-election – outcome of nominations

UPDATE 24-05-2017: One of the candidates, Paris Konstadinu, has withdrawn from the election. Candidate statements have been updated.

After the close of nominations, the following candidates were provisionally* elected unopposed:

Women’s Representative (Council)
Brenna Dempsey (EMPOWER)

The following provisional* nominations were received for Education Officer (Council):
Abdul Rehman Khan
Starr Guzman (EMPOWER)
Paris Konstadinu

The above list is in ballot paper order.

A ballot for the position of Education Officer will be held at Swinburne University of Technology Hawthorn (UN Building Level 4) on Wednesday 24th May & Thursday 25th May from 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm each day. To vote, present at UN Level 4 during those times with your student card. All students can vote (not just Student Union members).

As of 23rd May 2017 two tickets have been registered (EMPOWER & ARK).

Open Universities Australia Representative

Swinburne Student Union is seeking expressions of interest for an Open Universities Australia student to fill the OUA Representative role on the SSU Education Board. Education Board consists of the SSU Executive, Education Representative and Faculty Representatives. It considers matters relating to the rights and interests of Swinburne students with respect to academic and assessment policy.

The role also requires attending the Online Teaching Community of Practice meetings facilitated by Learning Transformations (one meeting each month).

The OUA Representative is eligible to receive a $100 per month honoraria, subject to meeting attendance.

To express your interest, email a short (500 word maximum) statement to by 5:00pm Friday 19th May telling us why you’d like to be the Open Universities Australia Representative.
